a case against co-sleeping?
A "friend" of mine was horrified when he found out I'd let Faye sleep w/me until she was nearly 3. She had her own, but it didn't bother me to have a bed warmer come cuddle. Some RS ladies have danced around the subject, one being 'very confused' after I gave her a tour of the new digs and she didn't see a crib.
Really? Knowing I didn't wean Faye until well after age 2, she was shocked that I was clearly bed sharing?
Anyways...
After being warned of the hazards to the kids (don't you know they'll be clingy for the rest of their life? *gag*)... It reminded me of an almost unrelated story. In which it was reversed....
I was the youngest of all my siblings and I often slept with my parents. When I was in 1st grade, I remember having a nightmare about frogs. I crawled in bed with my Mom. Well- My dad had recently been put on a breathing/oxygen mask thing at night. No one had explained to me what it was for. It made a terrible beeping noise. It was keeping me awake, so I got up and turned the machine off. Yup. He almost died just then :P Co-sleeping is definitely dangerous. ;)
Faye's 7th B'day
she's always excited about cards. Getting mail makes her feel important. She once copied our address on 10 envelopes and mailed herself scribbles. She's also richer than rich with all the money she got. She can't wait to waste it on junk food. :)
I'm not sure the other passengers on our flight will be as enthused. ;)
I think these were the carpet sliding things. Also cool. She tapes coloring books to her feet so she can "ski" around the house... now she's got dedicated ''shoes''. Sweet.

Smurffette
In the 1990's the LDS Church gave over 500,00 $ to The Alaska Family Coalition to support the same-sex marriage ban in the state. Ugly press soon followed. Now, in CA, with Prop 22, instead of donating outright, they instead used ward mailing lists as a way to solicit members to contribute to the cause. Isn't there anything more productive we can focus on ? Maybe feeding the poor with that tithing money?
All these platitudes about loving gay members really irritate me. How about we pay more than lip service to our Articles of Faith. 11 & 12 specifically.
Yet another idea put to use. My auto-gym-tracker idea.
Google Analytics is very cool/UNICORN update
As far as UNICORN goes, Victoria sent me a link to a job posting for a UNICORN instructor. Hah. It's interesting how they need somebody dedicated to just that. I guess that's good for them and all. I wonder what kind of metrics they have for the site now. Anybody interested can find the job post here.
Summer Fun

It's been a busy summer thus far. We pet sat a pair of greyhounds for a lady that Zane worked with. She had a sweet pool and Faye has been begging for a pet ever since. Good thing *my* birthday is coming up. Eh Zane? :P
We've spent nearly every day at Water country. Faye is very tan. Some stranger woman was chastising me, ranting about the dangers of skin cancer....bla blah. Least it's obvious she has the chance to play outdoors often.
We've been taking a picnic lunch to Zane at work. We go to a nearby parkish area. Where we make Faye run laps around a fountain. Each cycle is worth 10 mins on the computer/tv (she was in need of an attitude adjustment, so she's been restricted from tv/computer for the remainder of summer).
Faye's birthday is today. Uncle Jedidiah sent a box full of presents. She hasn't opened any yet, but the box was a bit hit. Here's Faye's first car. She's begged me for a hot wheels for years, here she is doing the Flintstones bit. Its about as close as she's going to get. :)

More disappointment
Buying support?
Civil libertarians are also at a dramatic financial disadvantage. An analysis by MAPLight.org found that AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint had given an average of $8,359 to the campaigns of House Democrats who supported last week's FISA legislation, compared with only $4,987 to those who opposed it. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), the Majority Leader who shepherded the legislation through the House, received particularly generous support from telecom interests: $29,000 over the last three years. Others major recipients who supported the "compromise," according to MAPLight, included Speaker Nancy Pelosi ($24,500), DMCA opponent Rick Boucher ($27,500), and Majority whip Jim Clyburn ($29,500). In contrast, the Strange Bedfellows, a coalition of liberals and libertarians opposed to the legislation, has raised a little over $300,000 in campaign contributions—a respectable sum for a one-week online fundraising blitz, but no match for the telcos' millions. It's a safe bet that the telcos are prepared to spend equally large sums of money to grease the skids in the Senate.Very disappointing.

get. a. life.
Random says to my "i dont like group work" post:
"Clearly you don't understand the ideology of Ron Paul and the difference between NON-INTERVENTIONISM and ISOLATIONISM. Fun story, but I think it does a poor job really giving any insight what so ever.
If you were a kid in today's age and acted as you did, you would probably be forced prescribed many drugs by your public school who are in bed with pharmaceutical industry more and more now each day. I haven't read your other posts, nor do I care to, but I hope you are not for our current large government state. It's hard to tell since you have such a miss represented view of Ron Paul.
Good Day."
To which the only response I have is:
Dude.
Maybe those Ron Paul nuts are onto something?
I remember when I was 9. I would constantly complain about working in ‘teams’.
Because:
1. I would do all the work myself and everyone would get an A.
Or
2. People wouldn’t do their share and we wouldn’t get an A
Or
3. People would do a lazy job and we wouldn’t get an A
In my current Ethics class, I’m encountering the same problems. Things haven’t changed since 5th grade. Who does group work in college!? Ugh. I’m not a team player. I hate Ron Paul. But… my isolationist streak is showing.
